Teaching & Learning

IT plays a crucial role in supporting the teaching and learning activities of the University.  We manage the virtual and physical learning spaces and strive to develop inspiring, vibrant and technology-rich teaching and learning environments for teachers and students.

We focus on two areas: E-learning Technologies and Teaching & Learning Spaces.

E-Learning Technologies

We support the Moodle Learning Management System which integrates with the Student Information System to provide up-to-date course information.   This feature rich e-learning platform supports Forum, Assignments, Choice for tutorial selection, etc. and is enhanced with the Turnitin plugin for plagiarism checking and GradeMark.

Lecture Capture Services (LCS) uses the Panopto Lecture Capture System to record lectures and events for subsequent viewing by students.  Panopto integrates with Moodle through which recorded lectures can be uploaded and associated with the Moodle course automatically

Teaching & Learning Spaces

Formal Learning Spaces:-
Learning Environment Services supports all central pool lecture theatres and classrooms. We work closely with colleagues in the Estate Office to manage the programme of refurbishment and refresh. LES provides detailed design & technology advice to provide a wide range of facilities to accommodate the display needs of teaching staff.

Informal Learning Spaces:-
LES has teams based in the Chi Wah Learning Commons and The Curve.
